The LDC came together and recognised the positive outcomes achieved by the first Expo that was organised by Yvonne Campbell – http://specialcarecentral.com.au during the previous year and has worked with Yvonne to pursue the creation of the second and now the third Logan Disability Awareness & Opportunity Expo 2011.
A total of 56 stallholders were at the Disability Awareness and Opportunity Expo held on 15th September 2010 at the Beenleigh Events Centre. The stall holders represented organisations and agencies that provide services to people living with a disability, their families and carers in the Logan area.
Each Organisation or agency responded to a survey that assisted in the collation of information and feedback in relation to the expo. The results were very positive with numerous stallholders congratulating the organising team and volunteers during the day.
A feature of the Expo was the Have Your Say Booth. This booth was set up at the entrance of the expo where participants were able to share their thoughts, ideas an suggestions for improvement in relation to living with a disability in Logan.
A total of 75 people discussed their views through the surveys and at least 20 people posted something on the “sticky wall”. Key findings can be requested from Yvonne if you feel they will assist your business development.
The Expo was opened by the Logan Mayor Cr.Pam Parker and our guest speaker was an inspiring Paralympian Karni Liddell. We were honoured to have many distinguished guests at the event.
Approx 600 Community members with a disability, parents, carers and students were all able to enjoy and benefit from attending the Expo.
